01 · Does your AC use a remote?
These controllers copy your AC's handheld remote over infrared, so they only work with units that have one — most window, portable, mini-split and heat-pump ACs do. If your unit only has buttons on the front and no remote, none of these will work.
02 · Nothing permanent
Every pick here sticks to a wall with adhesive or sits on a shelf or table stand — no wiring, no thermostat swap, and no holes for the app-only models. When you move, it peels off and comes with you. A couple of the screen models use two small screws for a wall plate, so use the included table stand instead if your lease is strict.
03 · Avoid monthly fees
Sensibo, Cielo and Mysa all run on free apps with no required subscription — you buy the device once and that's it. Be wary of any smart-AC gadget that locks scheduling or geofencing behind a monthly plan.
04 · Do you want buttons on the wall?
App-only controllers like the Sensibo Sky and Breez Lite are cheaper and fine if you live alone and always have your phone. If roommates or guests need to bump the temperature without downloading an app, spend a little more for an onboard screen like the Breez Plus, Breez Max or Mysa.
