01 · Match the tank to your square footage
In a studio or one-bedroom, a 300ml diffuser is plenty and refills less often than you'd expect. Save the 500ml tanks for open living rooms or a combined kitchen-living space, or if you just hate refilling.
02 · Check the Wi-Fi fine print
Almost every smart diffuser connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only, not 5GHz. If your router blends both bands under one network name, you may need to split them temporarily during setup or you'll fight the pairing.
03 · Your own oils, or refill vials?
Ultrasonic diffusers like Govee, ASAKUKI, and InnoGear let you use any essential oil you like with water. Pura skips the water and uses branded fragrance vials instead, which is less mess but an ongoing cost.
04 · Look for renter-friendly extras
Auto shut-off when the water runs dry protects your surfaces, a quiet motor matters with thin walls, and a soft night light means one device covers both scent and low lighting in a small space.
